Where is The Hotbox located?

Hotbox’s address is 40330 Tantalus Road, Squamish, BC V0N 1T0. We are in the backside of the Sea to Sky Hotel and the entrance is in the alley.

Do I need a mat and do we need shoes in the Hotbox?

Yes you do need a mat and you will never wear shoes into the studio. We have a special floor that is specific for hot yoga. Our floor has a very high cushion and allows expansion during heat. Shoes will wreck the floor. Your body will love this floor.

Why are classes in the dark?

Classes are in the dark to create a sense of comfort for everyone. We wanted everyone to be comfortable to be themselves and not worry about what they look like. There are mirrors so you can see your form but no glaring lights?

What is the temperature in the Hotbox?

The temperature ranges from 25 in our warm classes to 35-40 degrees for our hot classes.

How do I join The Hotbox?

It’s a really simple process – and it’s all handled here on the website. Click on ‘Join’ from the main menu, and you will be directed to the mindbody site. Please create a username and password and select your type of membership, and away you go! You’ll be a member in just a few simple steps. If that doesn’t work you can always fire us an email or give us a phone call.

What is the minimum age to join the Hotbox?

You need to be 16 years old to join. However, we do offer a group class called Athletes in Training for the younger crew, which starts at age 10.

Can I change my membership type?

Once a monthly membership is selected, you will remain in that contract until it is finished. At that time you may switch to a different membership that suits you at that time.

What does “month-to-month” mean?

You are not contractually tied to your membership for any specified period of time. That means you’ve got complete freedom. However to cancel we require 1 month notice for cancellations.

When I purchase a pass may I purchase it for a future date?

Yes you can. If you wish to buy a pass and use it in a week, month or longer you are more than welcome to do so. You may pick the date when you purchase your own pass on line or send us an e-mail to stormstrength@hotmail.com and we will do it for you.

Can I put my pass on hold for holidays?

Absolutely. We will hold your pass if you are on holidays in ONE consecutive run for two weeks. Your charges will go through, however the time will be added at the end of your contract. If you go on holidays for a week this is not considered a pass hold. You also may not hold it more than once within a contract term.

Late Cancel and no show fees?

You must cancel 4 hours prior to a class in order to avoid a late cancel fee of $10. If you don’t show up with no notice then you will incur a $15 no show fee. Teachers plan classes around attendance and numbers and clients on the waitlist would have attended. There are no exceptions. Life throws everyone a curve ball but if we have 10 people on a waitlist and 10 people late cancel it is very unfair to the teachers, clients and us trying to manage a business. In good news we do donate the no show money to a local charity at Christmas.

What do I do if I am on the waitlist and have not received an e-mail that I have a spot in the class?

Please make sure to remove yourself off the waitlist if you don’t plan to attend and cant accept a last minute notice. The system automatically adds you and if you don’t show up then you will incur a no show fee.

How do I know if I got into a class and off the waitlist?

Please ensure that your account is set to receive both texts and e-mails for notifications. It is always best to go in an check an hour before.

Should I come to the gym if I am sick or injured?

If you are sick the answer is please stay home! Please don’t think any of the coaches are going to be proud of you that you made it even though you are sick. We sweat and we don’t want others getting sick so please stay home and rest. Coaches’ orders!

If you are injured it depends on the injury what we will recommend. For more serious injuries, we speak with your GP or specialist for advice. Many classes won’t affect you if you fell off your bike on the weekend but if you twisted your ankle running and we have a leg day your option is to stay home and rest or we can program for you an upper body day.

Is the Hotbox competitive?

Absolutely not. The Hotbox is a gym that is created with ease for the patron. All the classes are designed so you can follow an instructor who is at the front of the class and doing the class with you.

What type of clientele frequents Storm?


All levels train at our gym. We have athletes competing in Ironman, 5 km, 10 km and distance road, running and adventure races to people who have never stepped foot in a gym or are just coming back after having a baby. We can modify each class/workout on the board that will cater to your needs. 

I have never worked out before. Should I get fit before joining The Hotbox? 

Whether you are in great shape or a complete beginner we create a workout intensity level and atmosphere for everyone. If you have never worked out before the best thing you can do is join and we will assist you with becoming fit, safely.

Can I pay monthly payments for my membership?

Yes, all of our memberships are set up on a monthly payment plan. If you wish to pay in full that is also an option you just have to let us know.

Is my pass transferrable?

No passes are not transferrable.
